It's New Year!

Happy new year to all! We're filled with hopes that this year 2010--the year of the Tiger would bring real joy and successes to us. We do no dream because dream usually does not happen. We hope because we have faith that what we believe would really happen.
We also pray that problems and disasters of 2009 would not haunt us this 2010. But my friend, as long as we live we have always problems and we can't go away from them as long as we have breath.
We're the makers of our so-called destiny. We only ask and pray for divine guidance from Heaven above and our hopes would be fulfilled. If our prayers are only for our own gratification, most likely they would not be granted. But if we pray good things for others especially to the less of our brethren, usually they would be realized.
Making 2010 fruitful is our decision. We can demand 100% growth of our plans as long as they are attuned to the will of our Divine Master. Remember, we don't live for our own selves but we are part of the entire humanity marching and journeying to the place of eternity.
2010 is a historical year for us Filipinos. We can change our lot for good or we can submerge ourselves and our country to the quagmire of corruption, killings, cheating, apathy, and escapism.
We can be part of change--part of solution or we can be problems ourselves. The choice is yours. We can be catalysts of change or be stumbling blocks 0f change.
We can be active participants or we can be unwilling bystanders.
It's new year! Hoping that your perspectives are new and progressive--for the good of your family, country, and to the less of your brethren.God love us all as long as we're willing and hearing His will to us.

It's Christmas Time!

Thanks to Heaven above, it's Christmas time once more. We always associate this season as a time of plenty and fun especially that we had been conditioned since childhood. We should be thankful to our Creator that He spared us from calamities; and if ever we're not so fortunate, at least we're still alive. (There are many people right now all over the globe that no longer exist today because of various reasons--diseases, war, crime, accident, suicide.)
The actual meaning of Christmas is sharing and spiritual growth. Lord Jesus Christ came to the world to share Himself for our redemption from sins. We should also likewise share ourselves to the less fortunate members of our society either through material things or to extend our time and ourselves to worthy causes.
Usually I observe that it's only during Christmas that we show our charitable nature. After Christmas, we forgot that we have still neighbors who need our time, our ears, our sympathy.
So, let's not forget that our ultimate aim during Christmas is spiritual growth and reflection to the true meaning of existence.

How Much Money Do You Really Need?

Many of us really work hard seven days a week and more than eight hours a day to earn more money. We believe that if we can meet our basic needs, then we have peace of mind and security. To our surprise, the more we earn the more insecure we are because we're afraid that we may lose what we'd worked hard.
I have also know many individuals who engage in business who fail or neglect their own relaxation and leisure because they're busy increasing their wealth or net worth. They surprise later in life that they forget to enjoy the sunrise, singing of birds, the dew in the morning and other free provisions in nature which they can enjoy if they want. But because of the pursuit of money, these businessmen forget all these until they find they're not happy after all. Worst, they're now sick and can no longer enjoy their wealth because they're in and our in the hospital.
If we can have the necessities in living--nutritious foods, shelter, clothing, education of children, money for emergency--put a rest. Be reflective. Enjoy life. Listen to soothing music. That's life.
Too much work for money is like binding the wind which you can't. Our desire is insatiable. The more money we earn the more thirsty we are for more. Some are tempted to put a shortcut to wealth. They do everything either good or bad just to acquire more money. Some are stealing. Some use their astuteness to fool their fellow men. When they have now a six-figure income, are they happy? Or they become more miserable deep inside because they're still sad.
I read a warning that "Don't trasport gold in your graveyard". You can't really bring your wealth when you die. Some of us are putting a requsite to our happiness when we say, " If I have this amount then I'd be happy. This is wrong because even if you're in your simplest existence because you have no penny to spend you can still be happy.
So, don't put too much pressure on yourself. Enjoy life and don't make money as your requisite for happiness.

What American Soldiers are Doing in Mindanao?

This is a thought provoking question. Armed Forces of the Philippines told the press that they are having military exercises.
By the way US Forces have already stayed for months. Is that how long you would have your military exercise?
A press conference from one "renegade" officer of AFP confirmed that US Forces are not only having theirmilitary exercises but have joined in actual combat military operations against Abu Sayaff, the local terorist group affiliated to Jemaa Islamiya.
This act of joining local military operation is a crystal clear violation of our 1987 Constitution. This is a violation of our sovereignty as a nation. It is still clear in our minds what happenned to Nicol, how she was raped; and her case was maneuvered to free Daniel Smith--the rapist.
US foreign policy of attacking so-called terrorists would endanger our freedom. We do not want that experiences of Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan would happen to our beloved country.
We suspect that the issue of terrorism is only made as a fascade to attack and control other countries in the world.
Mindanao is rich in natural resources. Future supply of oil may come from Sulu Sea. Nickel deposits in Nonoc island is one of the biggest in the world. Vast plantations of banana, coconut, pineapple, durian, etc. are found in Mindanao.
I don't want to offend some peace-loving Americans. But this act would of overstaying in our country by US Forces would make us uncomfortable. Please leave. This is our country. If our irresponsible government and military officials give you the yesses to stay, then forget them. They are only minding their own narow self-interest and not ours.
If peace and order worsen, they would just vacate and live abroad. We would be left here languishing the war. So please spare our country from war. We can manage to run our own internal affairs.

Can We Have Another Tita Cory?

Now that she's gone, can we have another Tita Cory who is sincere and with moral leadership? Our country now is in bad shape with "vultures, crocodiles, hyenas" that position themselves in the government institutions and offices ready to devour our very resources.
We have enough of them--theft, corrupt and grafters public officials. They are there in the government not to serve the people but to serve their pockets.
May the death of Tita Cory would serve as torch in the darkerst moment of our history. May her sacrifices in leading the fight against dictatorship and tyranny would serve as our inspiration in continuing the fight against the present administration which is corrupt and human rights violator.
We learn a lot from Tita Cory. She continued her advocacy in defending the people. She fought Erap and now Gloria whom she perceived as corrupt and abusive government.
To the end of her breath she remained consistent in her unwavering principle in defending the rights of the people for decent living.
She was not afraid to face the consequence of her action. She rallied in the streets denouncing the evils she saw in the past and present government.
We miss you Tita Cory. Your legacies will live forever in our hearts.

Power of Prayer

I don't like to sound like I'm preaching you but this is what I discovered: If you're in trouble and nobody to turn to for help, the biggest probability is--you pray and you start to discover the power of prayer.
When I was hospitalized due to dengue fever and my condition became critical--I was waiting to be transfused with fresh blood to elevate my blood platelets--I discovered how powerful prayer was.My body was so weak, my nose was bleeding; any moment my body would succumb to internal bleeding and God forbid--to my untimely demise. ( I was only 24 years old that time).
My mind was so sharp. I could recall like a flashback in movie my entire life from childhood. I reviewed and re-reviewed it. I cried to good Heaven to preserve and prolong my life.
He granted my prayer. I survived the ordeal.
Now I discovered that it was in that experience that the turning point in my life came. I learned how to prioritize things. My inner talents and abilities began to manifest which today I continue nurturing. These abilities help me to meet the challenges in life.
So, why not pray? Don't wait until you're in trouble and pray.

You're Really Good Tita Cory

When I was an activist way back in 1985-1989 the years that Cory Aquino, the wife of Ninoy Aquino, became so popular and president of the Philippines, I did not admire her because of her total war policy which brought untold miseries to the peasants in the countryside.
But as the years went by, I learned the true color of Tita (Aunt) Cory as she fondly called. She is religious and true to her commitment. She criticized and joined mass actions against President Joseph Estrada and President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. When she perceived something fishy to the policies of these previous and present presidents, she did not hesitate to air her side which attuned to the call of the common people for reforms in the government.
She also endured her own personal trials when Kris Aquino, her actress daughter, was involved in illicit relationship. All these, Tita Cory accepted without so much complain.
Now she is battling with colon cancer which we know even she has money for medicines but yet maybe it's very hard to surpass. All we can do now is to pray for her recovery or peaceful rest in the kingdom of God.
Tita Cory is a true leader of our people worth emulating and a true symbol of servant leadership. She does not brag of her wealth and influence. She is meek and humble.
We pray for you Tita Cory. May the good Lord will give you recovery. Amen.

Abortion: A Menace of Society?

A parent confinded me (because I'm a high school teacher) that she had a hard time with her first year high school son. He is not studying his lesson. Most of his graded are 75% or less--barely pass the subject. His teachers always call her in school because of discipline problems.
She said that his son probably is doing that because when she was in the first few months of her pregnancy, she attempted many times to abort him. She tanked good heaven-- her acts did not come to fruition.
Today she has a headache with her son. Sometimes his son asked her why she wanted to abort him. She of course denied the "allegations" of her son.
In the book I read "Dianetics" by L. Ron Hubbard he discusses that our life from woms is recorded through engrams. It's just like a tape recorder in our cells. It records all the stimuli inside and outside our body. It records all the conversations both negative and positve from our parents or relatives.
So, without our knowing, a day old sperm and ovum which united could record the converstion.Though the child later on could not recall the converstion, but deep inside his subconcious mind it leaves an imprint.
Naturally, if the child was attemped to be aborted during pregnancy, his emgrams would record and interpret that "beware society is cruel' you're indanger".
That's the reason that when the child survived abortion and grows up, majority of them may resort to anti-social activities. They're angry with society. They want to take revenge because of the oppression they'd undergone in the womb.
Therefore, before you undergo an illicit sexual acts: think of the unwanted child you may create and be aborted later on. You may create a modern monster out of your irresponsible action.

Michael Touches Peoples Across the Globe

No doubt majority of people worldwide know who Michael Jackson is. Even a small three-year old child hums his songs.
Now he is gone and all we have are his songs and memories. It's hard to forget him because from stages of our life since we were young, or teenager, or adulthood we heard his songs which flood us with our memories.
Now Michael is more popular than before. This is funny of us people because we tend to appreciate more those who pass away than when they were living.
Usually it happens to our loved ones. We fail to say I love you to them. We neglect them. We forgot the good thing they've done to us. Until one day we are surprise. They've went for a "vacation" forever. Now we regret. If only we can tie back the hands of time then we can say how much we care.
This is also what happened to Michael. Some of his detractors may feel sorry now.By the way I'm not so a fan of him but now that he's gone I appreciate him more--how he loved his children and other children.
He was so popular when he was still alive that became also his liability. If you're on top many love also to see you down. This is envy which is part of human nature.
We people also realize how we miss somebody who touched our lives. How we wish they are still here.
So, don't delay to appreciate your loved ones until they're there in their graveyard. Appreciate and show now how they mean to you.

Economic Side of H1N1

The media is hyping too much on the so-called pandemic of H1N1. Most of us are scary about contaminating this kind of illness.
Today, pharmaceutical companies have gullible people to take advantage. This is not to say that all of them are doing it. But we cannot deny that our woes are their gains.
Looking at TVs and Internet of the various preparations of most governemnts in the world, we can duduce that the business that the H1n1 could generate would redound to billion of dollars and euros. The ones who will gain? Naturally, the pharmaceutical companies which many of them have no hearts except always looking for their greedy interest.
Sometimes many of us are also suspecting with our wild imagination that how about if these pharmaceuticals hired genetic engineers to creat this malady. Then they would hire public relation through media to so fear. Presto they could manufacture the antidote--vaccines and other related drugs and equipments. Billions of dollars in profit.
These pharmaceutical companies will reap profits after profits. We people are the losers.
So, before we become panicky let's should know first if our fear is founded or not. If only this fear is orchestreted for profits, then let's stop all this madness.

Dear OFWs

Dear Overseas Filipino Workers who choose to stay abroad and raise your families in foreign land,
Greetings!
You're our unsung heroes because of the foreign remittances you sent at home. Your relatives and our country, the Philippines, have greatly benefited from the money you've sent. Without those hard currencies, our country could not remain afloat but sink in the sea of economic crisis.
This is just an appeal to all of you. Please teach your children to remain loyal to their mother toungue. Many of you I observe want to completely severe your roots to your children. Many of your children do not know your native language. Are you ashame to let them know of your language? Or do you believe that forgetting their own native language would open more opportunities for your children because they may become so conversant to foreign language like English, thus, they become more acceptible as the next OFW generation?
Please set aside this line of thinking because in the process you expose your own disloyalty to your own country. Remember we have a saying "those who did not turn back from where the come from cannot reach t their destination".
Your bad memories and experiences from our country may haunt you and make you forget your roots like your memory of corrupt public officials who are here. The beauty of our country and our language still remain forever. Is it not that your host country is loyal to its own language? Why you can't imitate the same.
This is just an appeal to all of you. If you find there's a sense in this suggestion, please do so.
Best regards to all of you.

Our Rat Race Culture

Our too much work sometimes ,that we find little time for ourselves and our family, make us wonder if we are the same with the rat running in a maze trying to escape but to no avail. We are like rats in a cage doing everything in escaping from drudgery of life but we find ourselves sticking in a mud. We're sinking everyday until we find that we wasted so much time pursuing money, fame, power, and influence--yet we are not happy but we feel void deep inside us.
I, too is wondering what life is really about with so much work and aspiration to go after. Life is too short to worry on material things and selfish pursuits.
One thing is quite sure: if you only think of your own glory, you will lose your like to disease, worry, and endless efforts. But if you devout to the less fortunate of your brothers, you can find happiness and meaning of your existence. There is something biblical in it.
Everyday we're in the rat race. We hurry. We run. We worry. Until you're sicked that you reflect that life is so fragile and fleeting to be spent only in endless acquisition of material possessions. The more you acquire the more insecure you are until you learn to give back what you own.
Some rich and famous people are awaken today to their corporate social resposiblity that they learn to give their billion of dollars to philantrohic work.
So, before you engage so much in a rat race be sure that you have already reflected your existence thus, you will not regret in the end.

Parenting Can Solve the Malady of the World

Imagine if all of us parents will only do our jobs in raising our children to be productive citizens of their country and the world then, presto we have no crimes and violence in our society.
This is easier said than done. Though we try hard to mold our children to the right path of living that we know, sometimes they make their own way and defy our efforts. The result? Disaster. These children would become "monsters" of society. They would resort to almost anti-social activities that can destroy them and our society.
Some parents also fail to raise their children. They abandoned their little ones and forget their obligation as parents--nurturers and good providers.
When these children grow up they would remember their irresponsible parents. They would harbor hate in their hearts and the society. They would contemplate that parents are cruel and society should also be destroyed because it represent their parents.
If only parents can do their right job then we can solve more than fifty percent of the problems of the world.

Raising Difficult Child

I'm in a dillemma sometimes. I was a good son because I did not give heartheache to my parents and yet today that I'm a parent myself, I have a 12-year old son who is hard to control. I envy sometimes parents who are irresponsible but have easy to control children.
My son is intelligent I know. But giving him instruction as part of his discipline seems to fell in deaf ears. Usually at the minimum I give five to ten instructions plus threats sometimes to make him follow.
Sometimes out of my anger I boxed him which made me feel sorry because I had already attended seminars against corporal punishment. But what can I do? Sometimes he teased his two younger sisters until they cried so, I applied physical force to make him stop.
Advices have short term effect on him. Usually he ignore them.
Few days ago I boxed him again when I heard him cursing his mother. My heart is aching sometimes when I think I have a difficult son to guide.
But sometimes I rationalize also that there is still hope that my son would change his attitude from bad to good. Then I also contemplate that this is is the risk of parenting. I chose this vocation so I must prepare for the worst.

Goodbye Michael

I'm not really a fan of Michael Jackson but because of his popularity I'm also reflecting of his sudden death. It tells us that life is fleeting. Here today and gone tomorrow. Even do how popular and moneyed you are, death would eventually snatch you in the great somewhere.
Fame and influence are without power in extending our life. If our annointed comes, then goodbye everything.
I don't know if Michael was truly happy in his entire life. Cases against him were filing. He tried to prove something that he had different personality which is morbid for us. This psychological traits of Michael maybe trace down to his childhood.
Did he enjoy his childhood? Or work and schedules with Jackson 5 pre-occupied him that his childhood was not spent accordingly. He worked with the pressure of parents and fans that his childhood was spent more on stage than in play land. The result? Michael Jackson which we could not understand because he had world of his own.
Nevertheless nobody could argue his talent. He was so talented that people all over the world admire him. It was only when his action went beyond the norms of society that he was shunned.
Goodbye Michael. The world remember and reflect your life now that you're gone.

To All Expat Filipinos

I admire how you survive in foreign land. Your efforts really pay off because out of your hardships, now you can afford to buy all necessities and sometimes luxuries of life. You can also send money to some relatives in the Philippines who are in dire needs of financial assistance.
Some of you choose to live in your country of work for a minimum of five years and to a maximum maybe of your lifetime. It is on that foreign land that you also raise your family either together with a Filipino wife or husband or foreign partners.
Now you have your own children. What do you want with their education? Do you want them to be totally detached from their own language and culture? If you fail to nurture their Filipino roots then you're completely throwing them to be gobbled by foreign culture. This is not to say that culture of your host country is bad.
If you teach loyalty of our culture to your children, you're cultivating future generation that may help change the destiny of our nation.
Why not hire tutors from our country Philippines and teach your children subjects as Fiipino, Philippine History, Noli Me Tangere, Fili, Panitikan, Bararila, etc. You can do this via video conference.
In this way, your children are still Filipinos in their way of life. If they become loyal to their country of origin-Philippines--they could acquire good values such as respect of parents and elders. In this way, if you grow old you can quite sure that they would not throw you in the nursing homes.
So, why not invest today in the education of your children to learn their own culture? I assure you they will become loyal to you and thankful as their parents.

People's Fear--H1N1

People are wary today. H1N1 Virus may infect them. World Health Organization and Health Ministries of all countries are alerted of possible pandemic.
It's hard to think that virus of pigs and birds are infecting humans today. Have we transgressed Mother Nature which it seems she allows all the catastrophes to befall mankind?
Precisely yes. Too much vaccination of pigs hoping to instantly mass produce meat and amass profit may trigger resistance of virus ;and mutate to other animals including humans. Like the once publicized mad cow disease that the culprit was the feeding of contaminated meat to cows instead of green grass. The result? Nature's vengeance. The cow became "mad" which if eaten may contaminate humans.
Too much chemical for our plants and animals may eventually explode to environmental backlash. We human beings would also suffer.
Our fear today may have been avoided if we respect the laws that govern Mother Nature. We should not rely too much in chemical. Gene alteration may result in mutation of bacteria and viruses which eventually the final losers are we--the foolish human beings who disregard ecology and the balance of nature.
Finally, too much gas emission in the atmosphere which pollute it may trigger these germs to thrive because the environment is so favorable for their growth. So, when we'll stop of our own folly? When the viruses finally subdue the earthlings to their death bed? Let's think about it.

Our Role as a Father

It's father's day! Congratulations to all fathers all over the world.
As a teacher, I have the first hand information on the role of the fathers to their children. Fathers are symbols of authority and discipline. This is not to say that mothers cannot do that roles. But our society which is happening all over the world, fathers are seen as model of bravery and protector.
Today there are many who are fathers but not responsible as head of the family. They left their children while they were young. They failed to nurture their children. Their children were either left to their mothers or family relatives. Because of this, the children would grow deprive of father figure in homes.
What's the negative consequences for the children growing up without fathers? Many of them would have a confuse role to choose. They would mimic more of the characteristics of their mothers or relatives. They may hate their destiny and envy those who have fathers.
Some of these children without fathers would struggle throughout their lives especially if their mothers are poor. Life to them is like a hell and a nightmare because their fathers have abandoned them. These kind of fathers are creating "monsters" in the process. These children would hate society and when they grow up may engage in anti-social activities. They would be a source of headache to the policemen. They may engage in criminal activities.
In my class I observe, children without fathers are sometimes hard to control. They are not focusing in their studies and do not follow school rules and regulations. They do this probably their fathers failed to enlighten them of rules at home.
Finally, if we fathers abandon our children then we are not contributing good for the society and the world in general. We as fathers should know our roles: to raise our children as responsible and productive citizens of their countries. If we fail to do this then we're raising children who have a mentality of Cain who is envious and murderous.

Disciplining Children:Spanking or Not to Spank?

I'm always in a dilemma when it comes to disciplining my children. I grew up with a corporal punishment as a form of my father's discipline. Belt or guava stick were my constant "companions" when I erred. Though I resented this kind of upbringing but nevertheless I reasoned out that it made me of what I AM TODAY-a professional teacher and a teacher leader of a teacher organization.
Taday, I have a headache. I do not want to replicate the "stick" discipline I received but soemetimes I forgat, I boxed and kicked my eldest 12 year old child--the first born. He is the type of a child who is restless and extra energetic since baby. He would not follow instruction in one, two or three instructions until you're shouting at the top of your voice.
I regretted if I inflict pain onhim. But circumstances may compel me to use my hands and feet if he teased his two youngers sisters until they cried.
My child is intelligent. In fact he is more knowledgeable in computer than I. The only thing is that: he lacks study habit. If only he has self-control, maybe he would also be in the honor list.
Sometimes I also feel guilty when I punish him. I had already attended seminars to stop corporal punishment sponsored by a non-government organization with international tie up. These seminars have no effects at all especially if I'm angry.
Some of you may say that I lack patience. You are wrong with this because I'm the type of guy who would not shout unless the house is on fire. I usually tried to be patient but to no avail. I also give consolation to myself that my child would change. Yes he changed too; but so little and so temporary.
Raising a child is really a dificult task for us parents. If so happens that we think we are good and have done everything for the welfare of our children and yet they remain unchanging especially when they are already matured, then we are guiltless. If they continue with their bad atttitude, then all we can do is to accept our fate or failure in raising our children as good citizens of this country and the world.

Integrity a Vanishing Specie?

If you're honest today and you want to fight corruption and exploitation done by your government the probability is--you'll be imprisoned or killed.
The "in" today is cheating, stealing, lying etc. If you are a man with high integrity, you're an "abnormal" in today's society.
Those who exposed corruption in the government are jailed or maligned. Those who cheat are still called "honorable".
I'm particularly referring to the event in the Philippines today. Those who exposed the corruption of Gloria Macapagal Arroyo's government were either killed or jailed. Countless lives had been snatched due to political killings.
GMA in my opinion is the worst president of the Philippines. She lacks integrity. She betrayed the ideals of People Power II which is to effect meaningful changes in the miseries of the Filipino people. Worst the people become poorer as before the people power.
She announced not to run as President last December 2003 but she ran and cheated in 2004 election as she was scandalized in the "Hello Garci".
Today she announces not to run in 2010 election. Majority of the people do not believe including myself. We cannot trust her for she lacks integrity.
This is not to say that we should all0w dishonesty to perpetuate. We can do our share by joining advocacy group that fight corruption. If necessary to sacrifice ourselves, let's do it. We should overturn dishonesty in our country and if possible in all corners of the globe.

Down with Con-Ass Congressmen

We the Filipino people have the moral obligation to throw to the dustbin of history those congressmen who voted for the so-called constituents assembly. These "lawmakers" try to fool us in the midnoon that their intention is not to prolong the stay of their queen PGMA. Can you believe that?
We the 88 million Filipinos excluding them (Congressmen and other cohorts of PGMa) would allow this kind of cheating to happen?
Vigourous campaigns should be done. Smear campaigns should be launched against these shameless tonggressmen who always think of Charter Changre to earn money from their Queen in Malacanang. These shameless vultures and crocodiles have no business in our country. They're the traitors of the Filipino people.
Next year 2010 is another election. These congressmen should not be voted to power. They should be treated as aliens and not genuine Filipinos. Shame on you Mr. Congressmen!

Politicians Without Conscience

Usually politicians are adhering to their selfish motives. They fool the people and the people allow it to happen. Majority of the people are poor that's the reason they are gullible. They could easily be swayed by sweet talker p0liticians.
When these politicians won in an election, usually they become forgetful of the promises they made with the people. They begin to amass wealth in order to recover the massive spending they threw during election.
Educating the people of the evil of politics is necessary. Vote buying should be vehemently opposed. Intimidation and oppression should be exposed.
Philippine politics today is so dirty that even the vulture would not dare to eat. Congressmen and Senators alike have the tendency to trick people into believing that they are doing their work which in reality they are not. Now they have the so called Constituents Assembly or Con-Ass which aims to revised our 1987 Constitution.
This is madness! All free-loving Filipinos should oppose and throw these congressmen who support it in the dustbin of history. These politicians are only loyal to their own pockets and are traitors to the people.

Charter Change

Our Philippine congressmen, majority of them, are greedy. They passed a resolution which would trasform Congress into a Constituents Assembly or ConAss which would oversee the so-called charter change or chacha. According to their argument much should be revised in our 1987 Constitution to attune it the changing times.
The people are afraid because of the hidden agenda which would change our presidential form of goverment to parlimentary form. If ConAs succeed then President Gloria Arroyo could run in 2010 national election as congressmwoman or paliamentarian thus if majority of her party won then she would become a prime minister and could perpetuate to power. She could go away from human rights and corruction charges.
Granting that we need changes in our 1987 Constitution, why not implement that next July or August 2010 after the national election? Why hurry that now?
Not all of us 88 million Filipinos are dumb to deduce that there is a selfish motive with this ConAs move.
So, all righteous and enlightened Filipinos here and abroad should register their strongest opposition to this deception that majority members of Congress are plotting to do. Only our concerted effort could stop these power hungry politicians who only think of the money they could get from the movers of ConAs. They do not think at all the poor and the destitute Filipinos.
These congressmen should not be voted anymore into position next election

Requiem for Air France Victims

I can only sympathized with the families of the passengers of Air France that was believed to have crashed in the Atlantic Ocean. Airline crash is usually fatal and left no survivors.
If I ride in an airplane I usually have a negative thoughts that the plane may crash. No one can tell. Though I keep on believing that airline safety is world standard and the pilot is expert in his field but the fear of air crash still persist. So, to dispel my fear I recite a prayer which I found so effective. My nerve became calm.
It is really necessary to put yourself in the hands of your Creator when you are traveling. How about if you are an atheist or agnostic? Putting to chance is your only option. You may control your mind that everything is okey and nothing worst would happen.
Usually a plane crash is so sudden that to say a prayer or goodbye is next to impossible. Both theist and atheist have no chance to say their last words.
So, before embarking into a journey which usually involves hazard why not say a prayer? You have nothing to lose but only to gain. We are surrounded with uncertainties and the only thing we can do is make certain that our souls will have somewhere to go if the unexpected like accident may happen.

Why Lodestar?

I'm just new in blogging. The itch of writing my thoughts forced me to find a way to write through this blog. Why Lodestar? It's because lodestar refers to the guiding star especially the North Star. In ancient times, it became the guide of the sailors and travelers. These travelers and sailors reached their destination because of the guiding star which was the lodestar. I hope that in today's world where information is numerous, that instead of guiding the people it confuses most of us; this blog may contribute to the enlightenment of the readers. People today are bombarded with information more than they could comprehend. The internet has positive and negative information to offer. The positive ones refer to ideas or knowledge that can help a surfer improve his situation. The negative information refers to ideas that may lead to the downfall of the readers. Some of these are porn sites that are so destructive both to old and young surfers. It is my hope that this blog may help explain to the inquisitive reader. I will post here per issue basis. Thanks for reading. See you in the next issue.
